Vault22 automatically tracks your actual spending against your average spending (i.e. how much you’ve spent so far this month with what you normally spend each month). But you may want to spend less than your average (for example on groceries or eating out), or you may expect to spend more (for example if you’re going on holiday or buying an appliance). You can show that in Vault22 by manually entering your own budget amount.

WEB:
There are 2 ways to add your own budget amount to categories: quick budgeting, or budgeting from the category detail screen. Read on for instructions on both:
Version A - quick budgeting:
- Log into Vault22 and navigate to the Budget tab. Click on the average/budgeted amount on the right-hand side of the category you would like to budget for.
- Enter your new budget amount, then click on the "SAVE" button.
Your new budget amount will now appear in bold next to the category. Average amounts are displayed in regular, unbolded text to help you tell the difference between the two.
Version B - via the category detail screen:
- Log into Vault22. On the Budget tab, click the category you would like to plan for. This will bring up the category screen.
- On the category screen, enter your budget amount, then click "SAVE" to set your budget. The average graph and category bar will be adjusted to reflect spending against the budget amount. Your budget amount will now appear in bold next to the category on the main Budget view. Average amounts are displayed in regular, unbolded text to help you tell the difference between the two.
ANDROID:
- Log into Vault22. Tap the menu button at the top left of the screen and select Budget. Then tap a category to bring up the category screen.
- On the category screen, tap ‘BUDGET’ to set an amount you plan to spend.
- Fill in your budget amount, then tap "SAVE."
- We'll ask you whether you want to apply your budget amount to all future months as well, or whether you'd only like to apply it to this month. Tap you preferred option to complete.
- The category bar will now reflect your budget amount instead of your average.
iOS:
- Log into Vault22. On the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, tap the Budget icon. Then tap a category to bring up the category screen.
- On the category screen, tap the ‘Edit budget' button.
- Fill in your budget amount, then tap "Set."
- The category bar will now reflect your budget amount instead of your average.
