Ability to configure average

Hi,

Would you guys consider an enhancement to add both a 3 month and a 12 month "average" to the "Money Month", "Track" view screen? Or, even better, let us configure the number of months to calculate the average as a user-defined setting?

The 3 month average works pretty well most of the time, but whenever you have irregular expenses (especially around Nov/Dec/Apr, etc, the average becomes distorted and actually becomes useless for planning purposes. I really rely on the average to help me "tweak" my monthly budget, but a 3 month average is just to short and doesn't really work for me.

Thanks!

  • Hi,
There have been many requests for a longer "average period" on your site. Are you planning to add this at some point?
I really think a 3 month period is too short.
If I have missed something and you already have the functionality, please let me know where to configure it.

    Great site though... really cool.
    Regards,
    Chris

  • Another one of those features that everyone requests, without concrete feedback from 22seven. Will this ever happen and if it does when. One suggestion I have for the 22seven team is to set a deadline on a new feature to be implemented and then commit to it publicly, maybe then things will happen faster.

  • @Chriselda, there's no current plans to extend the length of the 'average period' calculation. We're improving on the average category graph which will display the full history for the category. This should track the change in averages, over the history of that category, which will still be calculated over a 3 month period.

@Bernd, due to the nature of development we can't make promises or guarantees - no (software) development company is able to. While we try our best to plan and implement, there's a number of factors at play that impacts production.

  • Even just being able to flag certain items as excluded form the averages would go a long way to the occasional irregular item not throwing off the average completely.

  • Any further feedback on this? I'd definitely like to see this feature, surely 7 months is long enough for development?
